On 22nd October an agreement was finally reached in relation to the NJC (Green Book) Pay Award for 2024-25. The end result was the same as the full and final pay offer which was made by The National Employers back in May of this year.
Working with Schools will ensure that both the NJC and Teachers’ pay awards are processed and backdated before the Christmas break, but yet again we are left deeply frustrated by the inability to reach agreements on time. This creates lots of pressure on our payroll team and often results in employees themselves being adversely affected in terms of their net pay, with increased PAYE and Student/Postgraduate loan deductions often unnecessarily coming in to equation, not to mention the Universal Credit issue for staff on lower incomes levels.
We live in hope that for future pay awards, The National Employers and (in particular), Trade Unions work to a timely schedule in order to reach an agreement, therefore giving our hard working non-teaching staff the pay that they deserve at the time that they are entitled to it!
