Somewhat surprisingly, on 23rd July the National Joint Council for local government services announced that an agreement had been reached on the 2025 pay award for local government services (‘Green Book’) employees.
The headline increase is a 3.2% rise across all pay and allowances.
As ever, the new salary values are effective from 1st April 2025, so backpay will be due from that date. The Working with Schools payroll team will have the pay award fully implemented and backdated for all our customers at the conclusion of September’s pay run!
The NJC has also confirmed that ahead of the 2026 pay award, Spinal Column Point (SCP) 2 will be permanently deleted from the NJC pay spine. This will no doubt have an effect on the various salary scales, ranges, grades etc in place amongst our customers, and a realignment exercise may need to be undertaken in some instances.
