There is currently no confirmed teachers’ pay award for the 2026/27 academic year.
However, the Department for Education has submitted evidence to the School Teachers’ Review Body proposing a 6.5% pay increase spread across three years (2026/27–2028/29).
While the final structure has not been confirmed, the proposal is widely expected to equate to around 1.5% in 2026/27, followed by 2.5% in both 2027/28 and 2028/29.
The STRB will now review evidence from government, employers and unions before making its recommendation. A final decision will be made once this process has concluded.
